Being a Junkie

So I have a confession: I am a junkie. A reality TV junkie, that is.

I eat it up. I will give most reality shows a try at least once to see if I like them (the only exception being all of the 'Housewives' shows. I just can't bring myself to do it...) and generally end up hooked. Now I don't stay super glued to them for every single painful season (with a few notable exceptions) but will stay mildly obsessed for a while.

Top Chef ended last night, and thankfully it was a good finale! Both chefs did very well in the end (usually there's some sort of break-down-freak-out) and even though I was pulling for Sarah, I wasn't angry that Paul won. In the first episode in Vancouver, he and two of the other female finalists had to get their ingredients out of blocks of ice. He was clearly at an advantage over the two women, but he didn't start his dish until he was sure the girls had the ingredients they needed because he wanted it to be about the food, not the insanity of the challenge. What a guy! Congrats, Paul. A much-deserved win.

Tonight is Project Runway: All Stars. Now before I get into all that, let me just say that all-star seasons are a bitch. First of all, you've already seen these people compete once. There, you either fell in love with or completely loathed them, and now you have to see them AGAIN. It's either complete rejoicing as the asshole you hated the first time around gets kicked off a second time or watching favorite be robbed, round 2. Ugh. Anyway, tonight's PR should be good. There's light up outfits!

School was fine today. I have a fun errand to run on my way down to Northfield tomorrow to see the boyfriend, so that will be great. A phone call with a friend just now (plus the evening of shopping for lab supplies and dinner with him and another co-worker) reminded me that I am lucky to be surrounded with good people. Count your blessings, guys. I learned recently that not everybody is as nice as you'd like them to be.
